History of Football in Townsville
Townsville Football Inc. was a not-for-profit organization and was established in Townsville in 1966.
During 2005, Townsville Junior Soccer Association, as we were formerly known, amalgamated with the former North Queensland (Senior) Soccer Federation to form Townsville Football Inc.
In February 2015, a new entity, North Queensland Football Limited was created with a Board to effect change in Football in North Queensland to improve and grow the game.
This decision meant the new entity could re-invent themselves and provide stronger services to the clubs and children through better negotiations of contracts for services provided, using the power of numbers through economies of scale.
The North Queensland Zone consists of 13 Clubs which are a combination of Junior and Senior players.
Currently, the combined Junior and Senior membership for North Queensland stands at more than 3,500 players who come from Townsville, Ingham, Ayr and Charters Towers.
Our grounds are also used by Primary and Secondary schools for weekly interschool fixtures on Thursday and Friday afternoons, as well as for School Representative Competitions and training. In addition, the fields are also used by the Defence Force
The North Queensland Referees is also based at Brolga Park and utilize our grounds for training.
