Just want to say a big THANKYOU to all involved in the recent Fury Junior Clinic.  My 2 boys had a fantastic time, that they can't wait to go back to school to tell their friends all about it! Cheers Cindy   

Referees

Two young referees stepped up to the plate recently and did an outstanding job.  Below are some of the comments received:

"Brothers Colts played COE tonight at Brolga Park for the catch up game from the other week. No referees were appointed to this game and after Tony Walsh tried in vain to get a referee to the game at late notice, it was up to the COE to provide. Two girls, Jiville Latu and Lindsay Parkes (qualified referees), had just finished COE training and when asked to referee did not hesitate to say yes. I would just like to mention (and hopefully this can be passed on again to the girls) that their performance was one of the better refereeing performances in a Colts game that I have seen. The game flowed beautifully, was well controlled and all decisions were of a consistent nature. On behalf of the Colts team and Brothers TSV FC I would like to say thank you again to the girls for a wonderful display of refereeing".

"Very impressed with how both girls let the game flow. Jiville and Lindsay controlled the game in a very polite but firm manner.  The amount of respect earned and showed by the players was a credit to their performance, great advertisement and definitely great role models for refereeing in the local area. Would love to see them in charge of more games."

"The two girls were very professional and controlled the game extremely well and certainly "punched above their weight" in terms of their refereeing experience.  I believe it would be appropriate for both girls to be assessed for higher level appointments."

 

2009 Filippo Mele Carnival - 25th Anniversary

"I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate you most sincerely for the exceptional Carnival we have just witnessed.  My husband, my family and I have just spent the most wonderful five days witnessing our young 10 and 11 year olds playing "soccer" in a wonderful spirit.  I would particularly like to congratulate all the referees and linesmen for their dedication and outstanding service.  We have been following the Townsville Geckos and to say I am one proud grandmother is an understatement.  On a final note, please pass on my congratulations also to the 3 teams in Pool D.  They were a pleasure to watch - they played the game magnificiently and everybody associated with these teams must be congratulated also.  We now await the return Carnival in Cairns as well as the Filippo Mele Carnival next year.  Well done to all".

Junior Football Draws

"Just wanted to say thank you so much for giving us the draw ahead of time. This is a huge help to many families. We really appreciate this service and hope that we can have them in advance in the future. Thanking you."

Squirts Program

"My son Jack recently completed the Squirts Soccer Program that your association ran.  Jack had an absolute ball and has already signed up for the Squirts program being run by the Wulguru club in a few weeks.  If you run any more Squirts programs between now and the time Jack turns 5 (over the next two years) we'd appreciate it if you could let us know so that we can attend.

I also wanted to comment on the coaches who ran the group that Jack was in (the 3 year old group).  Alivia and Mel were absolutely fantastic.  I take Jack and his younger brother Harry to a lot of children's groups and activities and these two young girls did a great job - in fact, a much better job than many of the apparently qualified "teachers" or "childcare educators" that run the other classes they go to.  Both Alivia and Mel really connected with the children - their enthusiasm, commitment, obvious enjoyment and ability to communicate with and engage the 3 year olds every week was just great to see.  Mel in particular really took Jack under her wing and apparently she rated a very close second (next to the ice-cream of course!) as being his most favourite thing about the program.
